DMS Care Training Center Phlebotomy Program

The total cost of the program is $1,480, which covers tuition, registration, online course access, lab practice fees, and liability insurance.

A separate $65 fee applies for American Heart Association (AHA) BLS CPR certification, which is mandatory before course completion. Students can pay the tuition up front or choose a payment plan divided into two or three installments. Accepted forms of payment include Cash, Debit/Credit Card, PayPal, Zelle, and Check.

While DMS offers payment flexibility, federal financial aid (FAFSA) is not available because the school is not Title IV approved. However, financial help through the Texas Workforce Commission (TWC) may be an option for low-income or unemployed students.

DMS Care Training Center’s program covers both the technical and soft skills needed for a successful phlebotomy career. Some major areas of instruction include:

• Venipuncture techniques
• Specimen collection and handling
• Point-of-care testing
• Patient care and therapeutic communication
• Hazardous materials management
• Anatomy, physiology, and the disease process
• Infection control and recordkeeping

Students are required to complete 40 blood draws on mannequins first and, once insured, may practice draws on each other under supervision.

Once coursework and blood draw requirements are met, students can take the NHA CPT exam to become nationally certified.

Lab sessions are scheduled every Friday from 12:30 PM to 3:30 PM. Students must manage their own lab hours to meet the blood draw requirement and should always confirm lab availability before showing up.

The hands-on training portion is vital for mastering techniques like venipuncture and specimen labeling, both critical for passing the certification exam and succeeding in the field.

To enroll, applicants must:

• Be 16 years or older
• Provide a state-issued ID, passport, green card, or driver’s license
• Have a high school diploma or GED (or plan to graduate within 12 months)
• Purchase their own navy-colored scrubs
• Obtain an AHA BLS (CPR) certification before program completion

If a student’s high school diploma is from outside the U.S. and not in English, it must be translated through a U.S.-approved translation service.
